The goal of Youth & Teen Services (YTS) is to help youth acquire the life and academic skills necessary for personal success.
YTS provides two types of programs: Out-of-School Time Programs and In-School Programs.
For more information about YTS programs, please contact us at: youth.info@goodsamtx.org
Out-of-School Time (OST) programs provide youth learning opportunities that complement academic curriculums. These services are offered throughout the school year including seasonal breaks (fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks) most likely at a Good Sam Facility.
Grades K-12
Camp Good Sam: Monday - Friday, 8 A.M. - 3 P.M.
Out-of-School Time (OST): Monday - Friday, 3:30 P.M. - 6:30 P.M.
Camp Good Sam is a summer day camp offered to youth as an attempt to address summer learning loss by giving youth a safe place to learn and have fun. A literary-based, thematic learning model guides program delivery, and essential learning questions guide day-to-day lesson plans. Hands-on learning activities paired with an exciting and inviting camp culture keep youth interested and engaged in activities.
Youth Case Management is available as a resource to assist individuals in times of crisis and need. Services may be recommended by program staff or requested by participants and families. Immediate, short-term, and long-term case management is available.
Out-of-School Time provides a safe, fun learning environment where youth can explore their interests, find their creativity, and develop personally. Staff offer such services as homework assistance, educational group activities, team-building tasks, character development curricula, arts programs, STEM education, and field trips to keep youth learning in a safe, informal learning environment. Activities are designed to complement learning taking place during the school day.
In-School programs provide youth supplemental support in a classroom setting in partnership with the local Independent School District.
The Asset Building for Clients Program promotes the development of important life skills and personal assets by helping youth explore their interests and find their voice. Using the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets, Developmental Relationships, and Igniting Sparks as guiding frameworks, ABC offers programming in-school.
Youth advisory Committee is made up of teen leaders ages 13-17. They meet weekly to discern and respond to issues prevalent in their community while promoting youth voice.
College and Career Readiness helps teens explore personal interests and future careers. The goal of these services is to help youth successfully transition from high school into post-secondary education. Advisors mentor youth on the following topics:
