We are excited to invite you to our first in-person special event of the year – MUMS AND MIMOSAS SILVER TEA. This year’s luncheon will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the site of our very first Mums luncheon – The San Antonio Country Club. Generally held in the spring, we have moved this year’s luncheon to the fall to better accommodate our longtime friends, family, and supporters.
We can’t wait to host you and your guests at our luncheon where we will be sharing the origins of the “Silver Tea’s” in support of the Good Samaritan Center, leading to success over the last 70 years in our Early Childhood Development Center, Youth and Teens Programs, and our Nationally Accredited Senior Center.
Since 2009, Mums & Mimosas has brought our community together to celebrate the women and mothers in our lives, raising over one million dollars benefiting Good Samaritan Community Services. Each year, mothers of all ages gather in celebration of motherhood and friendship as we welcome nationally recognized speakers and authors to remind us about how special and impactful a mother’s love is to her children.
Past speakers of Mums & Mimosas include: author and comedian Stefanie Wilder-Taylor, authors Amy Nobile & Trisha Ashworth, editor-in-chief of Real Simple Magazine, Kristin Van Optrop, author Lorilee Craker, author and blogger Glennon Doyle, author Rosalind Wiseman, author and advocate Kelly Corrigan, author and media contributer Lee Woodruff, Leigh Anne Tuohy, subject of the movie “The Blind Side,” actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, actress, author, and comedian Ali Wentworth, and best-selling author and blogger Melanie Shankle.
To welcome you back this year, we are honored to have Austin, Texas-based writer Katie Russell at this year’s Keynote Speaker.
Katie Russell is an Austin, Texas-based writer with a Ph.D. in Language and Literacy from the University of Texas at Austin (UT). Katie’s debut book, A Season With Mom: Love, Loss, and the Ultimate Baseball Adventure, tells the story of her journey to visit all 30 Major League Baseball parks in a single season to fulfill her late mother’s dream. Her journey came to an end at the Chicago Cubs’ famous Wrigley Field(her and her mother’s favorite team), and what happened next was truly a dream come true. Katie’s story has been featured by People Magazine, Good Morning America, the Today Show, ESPN and ABC News.
